Dr. Vincenzo Dentamaro is a distinguished computer scientist and Assistant Professor at the University of Bari Aldo Moro, Italy. He holds a degree in computer science from the same university and a Master of Science in Machine Learning from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA. Dr. Dentamaro earned his PhD in Pattern Recognition, graduating cum laude with a scholarship from InnovaPuglia S.p.A. He boasts a publication record across various journals and conferences in the field of pattern recognition and has contributed to the Microsoft Research Journal on indoor positioning and localization, holding two international patents in this domain. With a background that includes roles such as Software Engineer at Johnson Controls Inc., intern at IBM Rome, and leadership positions as CEO and CTO of Nextome S.R.L., his work has been recognized with several awards, including the Seal of Excellence by the European Commission, 1st prize at Busan Metropolitan City in South Korea, the IBM Global Mobile Innovator Tournament Award at the Mobile World Congress, a nod from MIT Technology Review, and the Huawei Italy University Challenge for Edge AI in 2021.

Donato Impedovo is an Associate Professor at the University of Bari’s Department of Computer Science, with a research focus on signal processing, pattern recognition, machine learning, and biometrics. He has contributed over 100 articles to international journals and conference proceedings. His accolades include a "distinction" award at CORES 2009 and first prize in the Nereus-Euroavia competition on GMES in 2012. Prof. Impedovo has spearheaded more than 25 projects, engaging in research transfer and industrial collaborations. As an Associate Editor for IEEE Access and IEEE OJ-CS, he also reviews for several esteemed journals and serves as a reviewer for EU H2020 project evaluations. His leadership roles in conferences like SCSE 2018, WAIAH 2018, and ISCA 2015, as well as his membership in IAPR and status as an IEEE Senior Member, highlight his significant contributions to his fields of expertise.

Brief Bio
Giuseppe Pirlo received the degree (cum laude) in computer science from the Department of Computer Science, University of Bari, Italy, in 1986. Since 1986, he has been carrying out research in the field of computer science and neuroscience, signal processing, handwriting processing, automatic signature verification, biometrics, pattern recognition, and statistical data processing. Since 1991, he has been an Assistant Professor with the Department of Computer Science, University of Bari, where he is currently a Full Professor. He developed several scientific projects and authored more than 250 articles on international journals, scientific books, and proceedings. He is a member of the Governing Board of Consorzio Interuniversitario Nazionale per l’Informatica (CINI), the Governing Board of the Societa Italiana di e-Learning, the e-learning Committee of the University of Bari, the Gruppo Italiano Ricercatori in Pattern Recognition, the International Association of Pattern Recognition, the Stati Generali dell’Innovazione, and the Gruppo Ingegneria Informatica. He was the General Chair of the International Workshop on Emerging Aspects in Handwriting Signature Processing, Naples, in 2013, and the International Workshop on Image-Based Smart City Applications, Genoa, in 2015; and the General Co-Chair of the International Conference on Frontiers in Handwriting Recognition, Bari, in 2012. He was an Editor of the Special Issue Handwriting Recognition and Other PR Applications of the Pattern Recognition journal in 2014 and the Special Issue Handwriting Biometrics of the IET Biometrics journal in 2014. He was a Guest Editor of the Special Issue of Journal of e-Learning and Knowledge Society: Steps Toward the Digital Agenda: Open Data to Open Knowledge (Je-LKS) in 2014.

SCOPE
The workshop will concentrate on pattern recognition and behavioral biometrics for medical analysis, particularly targeting neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. It aims to enhance diagnosis, monitoring, and progression tracking through AI techniques. Topics include novel pattern recognition in medical imaging, early diagnosis via biometrics, machine learning in disease assessment, and AI in patient monitoring with IoT and telemedicine. This interactive forum encourages collaboration among academics, healthcare practitioners, and industry experts to foster innovation and partnership, with keynote speeches and discussions on state-of-the-art techniques and future applications in healthcare.
